Headteacher's latest Blog and welcome
Selby High School is not just another school; we are a thriving, successful, vibrant and energetic community demonstrating a common purpose - to ensure the very best for each and every one of our students. We are a school with a distinct ethos every student has their own individual strengths, gifts and talents; our aim is to ensure that these are all developed to their full potential. We look for excellence in all aspects of learning.
I believe Selby High School is a truly excellent school; it is a place where staff are proud to work, a place which Governors and parents and guardians are proud to support and a school to which students are proud to belong. I hope you find our website informative.
Our GCSE results speak for themselves, the best in Selby. In 2013 we were in the top 18% of all schools in England!
In addition, in 2014 the number of students achieving 5A*- A was 50% above what was already an extremely challenging target. This is a fabulous achievement against a backdrop of falling pass rates and higher grade boundaries. We are striving for excellence in all that we do and the work we have undertaken, in moving the school forward, has been acknowledged and praised by both Ofsted, the SSAT and HMI. Our academic achievements have resulted in the DfE granting the school a double specialism status.
